Quilting Basics at Sierra 2 Center
Workshop: Quilting Basics
This two-day workshop is perfect for confident beginners and those with some sewing experience, offering a deep dive into essential skills needed to craft cozy quilts of your own.
Learn about quilting tools, precision cutting, machine vs. hand stitching, binding techniques, and more. Discuss some basic principles of quilt design, explore color theory, and create your own quilted wall hanging! Meet other quilting enthusiasts and experience the joy of turning fabric into timeless works of art in our “Quilting Basics” class. All materials are provided but students are encouraged to bring their own sewing machines if they have them.
Materials provided by teacher: fabric, thread, sewing tools, iron and ironing board.

July Mending Meet-Up

The Mending Meet-Up at Broad Cloth is a relaxed and beginner-friendly sewing workshop designed to empower you with the essential skills of fabric repair and mending. Bring a mug of coffee or tea, a couple of your own garments, and your creativity! In this hands-on class, participants will get personalized assistance and experience the joy of giving new life to well-loved garments.
$20 registration fee (all mending supplies provided!)

Game of Shrooms
Game of Shrooms is a once a year world-wide art N seek event. The next Game of Shrooms happens on June 8th, 2024. On that day, artists from all over the world hide their original mushroom-themed art works in public places then they give hints (often on social media) for others to find AND KEEP!

In this beginner-friendly workshop, students will embark on a creative journey to craft charming patchwork heart ornaments. I’ll be guiding students through the basics of simple machine stitching, patchwork, and hand sewing. Unleash your creativity, learn essential sewing techniques, and leave with adorable handmade heart ornaments to adorn your space or share with loved ones. Materials are included in the cost and will be provided. All experience levels are welcome!

Art Farm Gala is an annual fundraiser by Yolo Arts supporting the Art & Ag Project and their partners The Yolo Land Trust and Yolo Farm to Fork.
This year's event will include over 140 works of art in the Art Harvest and Juried Silent Auction. Delicious food and beverage tastings from local restaurants, farms, wineries, and breweries including Savory Cafe, Father Paddy's, Good Hummus Produce, The Hive, Nugget Market, Green River Brewing, Capay Valley Vineyards, Sudwerk Brewing Co and more!

SacSews: Essential Stitches for Hand Sewing
This class will be a great chance to take it slow and do a deep dive into the basics of hand sewing with 7 essential stitches. You’ll get to practice and learn the best applications for the following:
running stitch
baste stitch
back stitch
invisible / ladder stitch
catch stitch
whip stitch
blanket stitch
All materials will be provided and you’ll come away with a handy “stitch sampler” you can take home and use for reference when starting whatever crafting or mending projects your heart may desire! Folks are also welcome to bring their own mending projects to class to work on if time allows.
This class will be held in the Learnery at Sierra 2 Center in Curtis Park, Sacramento

Curtis Fest 2023
The 15th Annual Curtis Fest Artisan Fair under the shade of trees in the middle of Curtis Park, Sacramento. There will be 100 vendors selling handmade wares of all kinds. Food trucks on site including Chando’s Tacos, Drewskis, Hefty Gyros and Smokin Ewe BBQ.
