Belize: Color Inspo and the Bestie Bag

We just got back from a weeklong trip to Belize, and it was the perfect place to herald the coming of spring - both weather and color-wise. It was my first time seeing that famous azure water of the Caribbean and it kind of blew my mind a little. While the greens and blues of the natural surroundings dominated our trip, our daily adventures were peppered with backdrops of colorful houses, murals, Easter festivities, and flora and fauna.

I packed accordingly, with linen shirts in lime and guava, and maybe matched a little too well. I also decided to do some last minute sewing and made the Bestie Bag from BF Patterns as a day pack for our various adventures. I only had one precious yard of this cotton and linen canvas in ‘Harmony’ from Figo Fabrics and that was more than enough. I decided to line the bag with a water resistant nylon since I knew there was a good chance it would get wet (snorkeling, canoeing, etc. was on our itinerary) - this was a good call! The bag is super sturdy, held up great, and added some fun pattern and texture to my colorful little travel capsule wardrobe.

I posted some details about making this bag on my Instagram account, and below are a few outfits pics~

My new Bestie bag, with a rayon dress bought in Thailand, old thrifted Teva sandals, and a thrifted Old Navy button up. Hat is new from Target.

Bestie bag, with me-made black linen pants (pattern is Pants No. 1 from 100 Acts of Sewing), thrifted linen button up, cotton tank top from Everlane, and secondhand Tevas bought on Poshmark.
